“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving." (Matthew 6:30-32)
Flowers exist momentarily; here today, and gone tomorrow. Yet, God continually chooses to lavish His energy and love on them! What more with us, his workmanship whom He has formed in His own image? I imagine that God feels the same way toward us - only a thousand times more. Lilies, or wildflowers in this translation, neither toil nor spin; they do nothing to feed or nourish themselves. Instead, God lovingly provides exactly what they need in order for them to blossom beautifully! Likewise, God intends for us to bloom, flourish and thrive right where we are today.
Often I underestimate God's provision and care for me, and that in itself shows how little I understand the magnitude of His love. Instead of looking to Him to complete me, I'm often guilty of taking matters into my own hands and living as if it's my job to do His.
If there's anything I want you to get out of this, it's that God, and God alone, is certainly more than enough! I discovered this when I began to seek Him as the answer, and not for an answer. He is your portion... your all in all... your missing puzzle piece. You don't have to wait for anything or anyone else to experience joy, freedom and fullness.
Funnily enough, it is in the empty spaces and blank pages that God has been showing me just how full and exciting and hope-filled my story is. Not will be or was - is. Today I stand complete in Him and through Him. Not because I'm enough, but because Christ in me is more than enough.
God knows (and has) everything you need to live a full life today. No, you don't need a new person, passion, paycheck or position... perhaps you just need a new perspective of your provider.
I'm thankful for a God who knows each and every desire... who always overdelivers and always satisfies... who is simply (and extraordinarily) always enough.
